The manager offered him a cigarette.

注意：
provide不如supply常用，但前者可跟双宾语，而后者无此用法。有时它们可互换，可说provide/supply sth. to sb.，也可说provide/supply sb. with sth. 。
The bank provided/supplied him with a loan $100,000.

注意：support指支持或赞成，如 support your idea,
支撑或扶持，support by sb. 。
4、afford v. [正式]提供，给予
多指提供抽象的东西，可后接双宾语。

It afforded him the opportunity to communicate with his foreign peers.
这给了他与外国的同龄人交流的机会。
5、furnish v. [正式]提供，供应
既可指提供抽象的东西，又可指提供具体的东西。

He was furnished with a list of local dealers.
他得到了一份当地经销商的名单。
