1、放在句末表示“尽管怎样 ， 但还是……”，可译为“终究”、“毕竟” 。如：I was right after all. 毕竟是我对 。He tried for an hour and failed after all. 他试了一个钟头，终究还是失败了 。
2、放在句首表示“别忘了 。如：I know he hasn’t finished the work but, after all, he’s very busy. 我知道他还没做完工作，但别忘了他很忙 。
例句：
After all, 15 minutes of exercise is better than nothing. 毕竟，锻炼15分钟比不锻炼好 。
Things weren't so bad, after all. I was among friends again.情况还不是那么糟糕，毕竟我又回到了朋友当中 。
We've decided not to go away after all. 我们到底还是决定不离开 。It doesn't look as if we'll be moving after all. 看样子我们还是不可能搬迁了 。
