其实，这对欧洲人来说并不是一件很稀奇的事情，对我们来说就很成问题了英格兰英语 。因为在欧洲历史上，各国不时会出现这个国家的贵族到另一个国家担任君主的事情，而且还不少 。这位完全不会说、也不会写英文的英格兰国王，正是此类情况 。1714—1727年在位的乔治一世，是一位来自汉诺威的德国王子，他54岁时 继承了安妮女王的王位，成为英国君主 。不过这不是他不懂英文的理由，因 为他也根本不想学习这个新国家的语 言，也从未做过任何尝试 。

England’s National Day is St George’s Day (Saint George being the patron saint), and it is celebrated annually on April 23rd 。
