金智允|这部学术界的《老友记》，透视了文科教育的艰难处境｜读刊( 五 )


在美国年轻人重新审视历史，推倒哥伦布、南方联盟将军雕塑的浪潮之下，《英文系主任》以比尔这条线反思着美国社会“政治正确”的尺度。这也是这部剧能获得文化圈关注的原因之一，恰如普林斯顿大学研究非裔美国人的教师Imani Perry认为，《英文系主任》的成功之处不在于它传递了什么坚实的信息或立场，而在于它的政治模糊性。Perry还评论道，在学校里教师遇到左翼思想警察举报的频率，跟右翼学生去监视左翼教授的言论的频率一样高。《英文系主任》没有简单地去制造二元对立，而是让大家进行反思。激进的封杀文化是不是另一种束缚？我们该如何看待“政治正确”？这或许是这部剧给美国社会所提出的问题。
